Wimbly Lu Chocolates @ Jln Riang

Wimbly Lu Chocolates is among a handful of F&B outlets located along Jalan Riang, which lies in the heart of rows and rows of beautiful bungalows and terraces. From outside, the first thing you might notice is the classic red Beetle parked at the storefront, which has become Wimbly Lu’s unique signature. The place appears quaint and has a mysterious charm which really draws you in, and on entering, you kind of wish you could stay inside for hours.

wimbly lu10Despite its out-of-town location, Wimbly Lu enjoys a healthy crowd and is still able to offer a pleasant dining experience without leaving you to feel claustrophobic. The atmosphere is cosy and interior decor, nearly magical – making the perfect place for dessert on a casual date or just a catch up sesh with a friend or two!

I’m not kidding when I tell you that Wimbly Lu probably has some of the best waffles ever. I know that many of you may beg to differ, but as far as I’m concerned, their crisp, golden, light and fluffy waffles are a personal favorite for me by a far mile of the others I’ve had before. They have absolutely the right taste and texture. Paired with a scoop of ice-cream and then drizzled with luscious maple syrup, these perfect Waffles (with ice-cream, S$8.5) could easily turn anyone’s bad day around.

wimbly lu8I also tried another of Wimbly Lu’s popular creations which is their Root Beer Chocolate Cake (S$6) served with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. The distinctive scent and taste of root beer came through well in this rich chocolate cake, and I simply can’t get over how ingenious this pairing is.

wimbly lu12For chilly, sweater weather, you couldn’t go wrong with their Classic Hot Chocolate (S$5.5) which is rich, velvety and so very comforting. Avoid their coffee at all costs though, because the Cafe Latte (S$5) we had tasted worse than longkau zui. Hur hur.

To sum up, I’m certain that Wimbly Lu Chocolates will be top on my list of places to go in times when I need to satisfy a sweet craving. Not sure how many other desserts I’ll be able to try there though, because their irresistible waffles are likely to tempt me away from anything else on the menu 😛
