The Handburger is an upscale burger-dining establishment serving artisan burgers. Upon further research, I found out that it was the brainchild of 3 good friends (the same people behind The Soup Spoon) who shared the sentiments of offering quality food at reasonable prices.
The reason for its name? Everything – from their burger buns, straight down to their sauces – is claimed to be made by hand!
So we arrived at the Raffles City outlet around 7pm, and for a Friday evening, I was surprised(and relieved!) that there was no dinner queue. We were then promptly offered seats by the service crew.
The Handburger offers a large variety of items, from burgers to sliders and soups to even desserts. I decided to get the most monstrous-looking item on the menu called The Works ($17.80), while C made a safe choice by getting The Handburger Original ($13.80). Both were cooked medium.
Service was prompt and our food arrived in around 10-15 minutes.
I honestly didn’t know where to begin – It was GINORMOUS! If you’re ordering this though, I suggest having the onion rings separately because doing so retains their deep-fried crunch.
And of course, all their burgers come with chunky fries, house salad or mushroom soup!
The fries were crisp and adequately-seasoned. I really liked them. They came with a tangy, mysterious-looking sauce which I forgot to ask about…
From this picture, you can see that diners are seated in long benches. Good for large groups, but less privacy for smaller ones of 2-3 pax – especially when the place is packed since the tables are not separated.
In a nutshell, the ambience wasn’t my favorite. However, food-wise, I certainly thought The Handburger did a pretty good job with their offerings of authentic gourmet burgers. Service was prompt and attentive. So will I be back? Probably!
